People misunderstand you, your context, your history, and your worldview.
Sometimes it is because you do or say something that is meant to be unclear.
Sometimes your (in)actions have accidental or unintentional consequences.
Sometimes people just make an assumption and judge you based on things you have never said, done, or believed – we all know someone like that, sadly.
Well, there is clearly no shortage of ‘Christians’ sharing their opinion and misrepresenting the Christian faith, making people confused in the process.
At the time of writing I have been a Christian for a little more than 10 years.
I am painfully aware of how obscure Christianity, the church and its beliefs can be – as well as how hurt and angry many of my friends have been by this.
Sometimes it is because certain ‘advocates’ are intending to be unclear, and other times it is because they are just talking past an issue at hand.
That is frustrating, but it is a healthy challenge for me to do better.
I will try to do my best, on this page (and if I can find the time), to challenge people’s assumptions, and provide a valuable (if not different) perspective to the discussions in which I add my voice, whatever that may be.
I hope those who know me would consider me reasonable enough to listen to, and those who don’t would be persuaded to listen further, with the end goal being that we can understand each other (or the issues) and our nuances a little better.
After all, there’s only so long I can do that behind the safety of a guitar and some really loud music.
